Unearthly Challenge — Rough 1

Not sure how much/how fast I’ll do this, but if I am going to do anything for this I’d better get started and I’ve pretty much clearered up most of the other stuff I wanted to do.  I’ll still finish up that environment for the character below, but thats not exactly a rush item, and I should be able to apply stuff I polish doing the Unearthly on that anyway.

Just a rough in above.  Going to start with the building…  I’ll see how much I get done tomorrow then start a thread.

Reg Enviro – Quick Test

I did a few more pieces using ZB as I mentioned below.  Very interesting technique.  Extremely fast, semi decent results — I could much improve on these without using a lot more time, so fairly impressed.  Some issues like tiling (look at the back wall) are interesting, but seem like they can be worked around.  Uses more space on disk, but not horribly so.  Columns haven’t been touched if you’re wondering — plain cylinders.

Speed sculpt — 3D total challenge

Quick doodle, had other things on my mind, so it wound up being a stream of unconciousness thing.  Fun though — some funny stuff over there this week, wish mine was.  The vague idea was going to be a word play thing with the bird in front of the egg (chicken before the egg), but it didn’t work so it’s just casually inspecting the egg :)

Reginor – Environment

Wanted to try out something from Pixologic’s site by Sebastian Legrain.

Really fast and simple after I got going (not used to radial symetry and stuff).  Probably going to doodle again tomorrow, get a few more pieces, and then do a little environment with them.

Unearthly Challenge — Concept Art

NOTE:  Concept art is from the pool made available by the contest.  This piece is by Thomas Scholes of the Crayon Box of Doom (great blog name :) ), with a quick look at colour by me:

Reginor — Update

Got a crit on the skin, and I made some adjustments.  Much more natural, available here.

Reginor — Low Poly UVed and Mapped

First time using LSCM mapping (Silo), which was a little weird at first, but I feel more comfortable with it now.  Fabulous on simple things — seam and forget about it.  This time things mainly ‘just worked’ which was nice, not a lot of backtracking.  Some speed improvements to be had, but overall very enjoyable… better quality and took me a fraction of the time the last one did.

Going to put him in a little set shortly.

So nice to be back on this computer.  Hope it keeps working well, almost everything in it had to be replaced.

ZB – Sketch – Head – First with rebuilt comp

Very fun working environment!  Tablet feels great on this comp too, and so much more fluid.  Hope things keep working.  So far so good, temps still okay, hds sound okay, nothing else is really obvious to me.  Quick head sketch, just going for a generic egoy look:

YAY — GOT MY COMPUTER BACK

And, in truly thrilling news it seems to be working!  CPU Temp is within 2 degrees of where it used to be (sometimes lower, sometimes higher… oddly enough).  RAM, MOBO and PSU have all been replaced.  Hard drives seem to still be working, and it looks like it’s the same GPU.  All and all… whee.  If it keeps working I am gonna be thrilled — nothing like a downgrade to make you appreciate a computer.

Reginor Second Low Poly Session

Second session of working on the low.  I’m a little distracted so it’s ten minutes doing this, 15 minutes researching, but it still got done.  It’s a little heavy, but I think it is in the ballpark at least.  Deformations, cleanup and UVs otw.

______________

My computer has shipped and is on the way back.  Thankfully! Powersupply and motherboard gone.  I guess I should be careful with it’s reliability here on out, but if it works it will be lovely to get back to.
